Our client, a well respected publishing operation, is looking for a Publishing Editor on an interim basis to cover maternity leave until February 2019. Reporting to the Senior Publishing Editor, the main responsibility is for the publishing performance of a journal. This includes delivering the very best content, ensuring the highest academic standards and contributing towards strategies designed to increase profitability.

The day-to-day accountabilities of the Publishing Editor include but are not restricted to:
• Taking a lead on all aspects of a prestigious title and becoming the face of the publication
• Managing the peer review process and post acceptance procedures to ensure that high quality material is available to production
• Ensuring high impact and visibility for the journal to achieve a market leading position
• Working closely with marketing colleagues to ensure that the correct campaigns are instigated to achieve full market coverage

Applicants must be educated to degree level, in a scientific subject and ideally have some solid experience working in an STM publishing environment. You will need to demonstrate commercial awareness, a thorough knowledge of the publishing process and a good understanding of the publishing needs and expectations. Excellent time management, organisational and communication skills are essential as is the ability to influence. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, self-motivated, confident and outgoing with the talent to work across all levels.
The role is to cover maternity leave for a period of one year and ideally the successful candidate will be available to start in February 2018.
